Apple removes app promoting private parties in pandemic
An American app that promoted private parties during the coronavirus pandemic has been removed from the Apple App Store. A recent video on its TikTok account claimed it held secret parties every weekend. Users of the app had to submit a profile for approval, including their Instagram handle, as well as photos of them "Partying," The Verge reported. "Some terrible people built a whole app for finding and promoting Covid-unsafe large, indoor house parties and they're using TikTok to market it to millions of people," The New York Times reporter, Taylor Lorenz, tweeted, sharing screenshots and a TikTok promotional video. The video showed people dancing inside a venue, and it advertised a New Year's Eve party in New York.
